Last Week In Photography - Sunset In Saugatuck IV -

Those of you who know me are aware I make a yearly visit to visit my wife, Maureen's, ashes on the bluffs overlooking Oval Beach on Lake Michigan every September 13th.

I lost her to cancer in 2013. This would have been our 31st anniversary and we've been watching the sunset every year since her passing.

This year it was gray and overcast.. a good time to be introspective as the usually busy boat slips were deserted except for a few restaurant goers nearby.

The beach itself was empty of the crush of people leaving it to the gulls and one lone woman and her dogs. Sunset promised to be hidden but the clouds at the horizon cleared just in time for these images to be captured.

The quietness and loneliness of the beach gave me time to reflect on loss, that of my family and others who felt that hole in their lives at her passing.

Yet another reminder to us all to treasure what and who we have and remember we'd pay a lot to have back all those little things we used to think annoyed us.
